NARITA AIRPORT -> HAKUBA

Narita Airport to Hakuba

Traveling into Narita International Airport will offer you a variety of options to travel not only to Hakuba but also throughout Japan.

Tip – If you are spending anytime in Tokyo before coming to Hakuba, send some of your luggage direct to Hakuba House using the takkyubin  (japan wide luggage delivery service) service you`ll see as you exit customs.

Tip – If your plan is to do some travelling in Japan beyond Hakuba, you should consider the JR (Japan Rail) Pass – note: this must be purchased before arriving in the country. It`s great value if you `re going to take more than 3 long distance trains during your stay.

  1. Direct Airport Shuttle– This service is by far the easiest & most popular We can arrange for a direct shuttle up to your Chalet or Hakuba House’s front door. They can accommodate for large and small groups or even single travellers. The driver will be holding a placard with your name on it at arrivals ready to assist– it doesn’t get much easier than this! Rates directly to your lodge or chalet are 16,200yen/adult, 12,100yen/children under 16 & 6,400yen for kids under 6.
  2. Nagano Snow Shuttle– This is a pre booked bus service which operates from outside Terminal 2 directly up to Hakuba Happo Bus Station. It is super convenient and runs four times daily between 17th DEC 2022 and 20th MARCH 2017. It is important to note that due to its popularity it does fill up very quickly. Look here for Nagano Snow Shuttle fare & times.
  3. Train – NEX- Narita Express – This is the most popular train into Tokyo station (where you`ll transfer onto a bullet train to Nagano). A ticket for this service should be purchased at the Narita Airport Station before traveling on the train. This will cost you around 1400- 3000yen one way or 4000yen adult return directly into Tokyo Station and Shinjuku Station.
  4. Train – Keisei Sky Line– This is a newer & cheaper alternative to the Narita Express. It`s slightly cheaper than the NEX and although not as direct (more stops to drag your luggage around) the journey to Ueno Station is faster. Be warned however, the Skyliner will drop you at Keisei-Ueno Station. There is then a further 8min walk to the main Ueno Station where the bullet train will depart from. This walk makes this option less appealing for groups with lots of luggage or young children.

HANEDA AIRPORT -> HAKUBA

Haneda Airport to Hakuba

Haneda Airport is situated slightly closer to both Tokyo City & Hakuba. Because of this your travel times will be shortened slightly. Like Narita Airport it is well set up and offers a variety of travel options plus takkyubin (luggage delivery services) and vendors selling pre-paid sim cards.

TIP – When booking flights to Tokyo, choose Haneda over Narita if the price justifies it.

Tit`s great value if you`re going to take more than 3 long distance trains during your stay

The driver will be holding a placard with your name on it at arrivals ready to assist you – it doesn’t get much easier than this! 3. Tokyo Monorail– This service is a short 30 to 40min trip into Tokyo Station and Ueno Station via an easy one stop change at Hamamatsucho station where you will need to change over onto to the Yamanote Line. It runs very frequently from terminal 2 and costs around 1000yen.
  4. Keikyu Line– Another option is to travel on the Keikyu Line. This is better if you wish to get to Shinjuku Express Bus Terminal and Shinjuku Station, you will still need to transfer at Shinagawa and jump on the JR Yokosuka line to get there. This is also a very frequent service from terminal 2 and will cost around 900yen.
