Getting to Hakuba House

Hakuba House provides a pick-up and drop-off service to all our guests when arriving in, or departing from, Hakuba. Ideally from the Hakuba “Happo Information Centre” and Bus Terminal which has an information desk which will call us in cases where we are not already waiting there (i.e when a pick up has been pre-arranged).

Our recommendations for getting here from various parts of Japan are below. Don’t hesitate to contact us if  you would like any further details.

From Tokyo (Narita & Haneda airport)

1. Direct “Door to Door” Transfer

Please note : if you arrive into Tokyo Narita later than 5 pm you will need to take the Direct Transfer option or overnight in Tokyo or Nagano.

Approx 5-6 hours ¥9,900 – ¥12,000/adult each way

Pick up from Narita or Haneda airport direct to Hakuba House. This option is definitely the most convenient, particularly with a lot of luggage, equipment and children, however does take a little longer.  The two options available are listed below.

Showing diffrent prices for getting here

NAGANO SNOW SHUTTLE : Highly recommended. This is a large comfortable coach. This is the cheaper and faster of the direct services, departing 3 times a day from Narita (9am, 12am & 8:30pm) and once a day from Haneda (9:30am). Please check with  Nagano Snow Shuttle to see if your flights connect and to make a booking. Takes around 5 hours @ ¥9,000 / adult each way.

CHUO TAXI : If your flights don’t connect with the Nagano Snow Shuttle service, this is the other option. Chuo Taxi is a direct, shared mini-van service which must be booked at least 7 days prior to travel. Mid winter this can take up to 6 hours and the cost is ¥12,000 / adult each way. Contact Chuo Taxi to make a booking.

CAR HIRE : Coming soon.

2. Shinkansen Bullet Train – 3 ½ – 4 hours

¥12,300 each way

From Narita Airport head to the Narita Express Train Station which is located in the basement below the airport.

Take the Narita Express train to Tokyo Central Station – around 1 – 1½ hours ( ¥3,300).

Then take the Nagano Bullet Train (Shinkansen) to Nagano – approx 1½ hours (¥7,500). The bullet trains leave Tokyo Station every twenty minutes from 6:24am through to 10:04pm.

From Nagano, you have two options – either Taxi or Bus:

  • Taxi: For people who arrive into Nagano after 10:00pm, this is your only transfer option. We can make the booking for you. All bookings must be made one week prior to travel. Approx 1 hour – ¥12,000 per taxi “average sedan size”
  • Bus: Take the “Alpico” bus from Nagano to Hakuba “Happo Information Centre” Bus Terminal (1 stop after Hakuba Station). Buses run every hour with the last bus departing Nagano 10:00pm. Buses leave from the east exit of Nagano Station from Bus Stop #6. Go to the top of the station and turn left – 1 hour ( ¥1,800). You can buy tickets at the kiosk on the ground level or if necessary and with correct change, from the dirver. Here is the timetable link.

3. Highway Bus – 5 ½ hours

¥7,700 each way

This is a very easy way to get to Hakuba with only one connection before arriving at Happo and is also the cheapest option.

From Narita Airport simply follow the orange signs for the Friendly Airport Limousine Bus, they leave every 20 minutes or so and there is no need to book.

Take the Airport Limousine Bus to Shinjuku Bus Terminal – just over 1 hour depending on Tokyo traffic (¥3,000). You can find the timetables here.

Then take the Highway Bus from Shinjuku Bus Terminal to Happo Bus Terminal (1 stop after Hakuba Station) – 4 ½ hours (¥4,700).
